Life as a Dream

Visiting the Buddhist Temple in Thailand yesterday, we were confronted with the fascinating sight of people praying in front of this crystal orb, which inverts the skyline of the city, to make it look like an inverted world- a kind of dream. Based on my limited understanding of Buddhism, I think this is meant to underscore the thought that all life is an illusion. To me, standing in Thailand on Christmas Eve on this retirement journey of a lifetime, what it underscored for me is the thought of how lucky I am, and that my life right now feels like a dream. And yet, here I am. May everyone in the coming year find peace and happiness, and a way to fulfill their own particular dream.
